There are many advantages to timber frame construction, but probably the best known and most important is that timber framed buildings are renowned for their environmental excellence.

• Timber is an organic, and non –toxic naturally renewable building material
• Although deforestation worldwide remains an issue, it is not caused by the European construction industry as the more wood we use the  more our forests grow as we plant more than we harvest
• Wood is effectively a carbon neutral material ( even allowing for transport)
• If all new houses built in the UK since 1945 had been timber frame, then more than 300 million tonnes of carbon dioxide would have been saved.
